The provision of excellent pre-hospital and inter hospital care depends on the training, skills and professional capacities of the EMS personnel. Men and women entering this profession are faced with many challenges throughout their careers.
A significant challenge for many is the emotional balance required to provide care under difficult circumstances and recover to function as a partner, family member and member of the community.

This talk will review current research regarding the types and scope of emotional problems experienced by EMS professionals, the resources available for self-help and how EMS employers and communities can help support the emotional well-bing of staff.
