From the layout and furnishings of the flats to the visual language of the Barbican's posters, signs, programmes and uniforms, almost everything about the Barbican’s design has achieved iconic status.

The original visual language of the Arts Centre was designed by the influential Ken Briggs (1931– 2013) – who was also responsible for much of the graphic identity of London’s National Theatre.

As part of the archive project, we will be building a picture of what design at the Barbican looks like through the decades.
